ABOUT MacDougall Clansman Hotel

The MacDougall Clansman Hotel is a small hotel, located at the north end of Church Street in the centre of Inverness. Our convenient, central location makes us an ideal choice for easy access to and from the Inverness bus and railway stations, local transport and city centre attractions, services and organised tours. We have been offering our guests comfortable, yet affordable, central accommodation since 1959. Our quiet, family-run, Highland style makes us attractive to those looking for a more traditional, personal atmosphere rather than the perhaps more anonymous settings often found in larger city centre hotels. Shops, restaurants, tour departure points and the Inverness Tourist Office are all within easy walking distance of the hotel, as is Inverness Castle and the River Ness. We are also within walking distance of the Eden Court Theatre, as well as a good selection of pubs, bistros and restaurants .

The MacDougall Clansman Hotel has been privately owned and run by the MacDougall family since it was established in 1959. Over the years the Hotel has tried our best to provide comfortable and affordable central accommodation for Inverness in a traditional Highland style, while trying also to achieve a feeling of calm in the midst of the bustle of city life. All but one of their fifteen bedrooms now have en-suite facilities and all bedrooms have colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, individually controlled central heating and double glazing. Since recent bedroom refurbishments, we can now offer the choice of smoking or non-smoking for all room types, which include single, double and twin bedded rooms plus family rooms to sleep up to four persons. Extra beds are also available, if required. A cooked Scottish breakfast is included in all room rates and a continental breakfast can be provided on request for guests who have to leave us early in the morning. The hotel has never had a public bar but since the early 1980’s they have held a purely residential licence, which the hotel feels contributes to a quieter, more homely atmosphere.
