TRANSFER TO INVERNESS BY CAR

By Car From North

If you are travelling south from the North of Scotland by Car then you will eventually connect with the A9 south which will take you directly into Inverness.     From North west Scotland you should eventually catch the A835 which will then lead you onto the A9 at Tore.

 

By Car From the South

Travelling from the south, you have a few options. From Glasgow you can either head up the A80 which connects onto the M80 for Stilring and then changes onto the M9 and then the A9. This run is more of a straight motorway run passing through amazing scenery and towns n villages. The A9 leads you into Inverness from the south east side. Your other option form Glasgow is to head for Loch Lomond, crossing the Erskine bridge heading towards Loch Lomond and follwoing the signs for Fort William. This part normally takes approx 2 and a half hours. From Fort William head dirctly north passing Spean bridge and towards Loch Ness. This will take you into Inverness form the South west side.

 

By Airport

The main Airports would be either

Inverness International Airport (Dalcross)   5 miles east of Inverness Town
Buses direct into Inverness City
There is an official taxi rank outside the front terminal who will transport you into Inverness Town.

Aberdeen Airport  (Dyce )   32 miles south east of Inverness
Buses direct into Inverness City
There is an official taxi rank outside the front terminal who will transport you into Inverness Town.

Glasgow International Airport    184 miles south of Inverness Town
Buses direct into Inverness City
Direct Taxis with Glasgow Airport Millennium Taxis from Glasgow Airport and Glasgow City into Inverness.

Prestwick Airport     211 miles south of Inverness
Buses direct into Inverness City
Direct Taxis with Glasgow Airport Millennium Taxis from Prestwick Airport and Prestwick and Ayr into Inverness.

Edinburgh Airport     175 miles south of Inverness
Buses direct into Inverness City
Direct Taxis with Glasgow Airport Millennium Taxis from Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh City into Inverness.

By Car From Prestwick Airport 

From Prestwick Airport take the A77 north which will connect you to the M77 into Glasgow from there you can take either of the two Glasgow options above.

By Car From Edinburgh Airport  


Below are 2 main routes from Edinburgh to Inverness.

Scenic Route:

From Edinburgh Airport head onto the M90 north for Perth, crossing the Forth Road bridge. This motorway run is quite a straight forward run inot perth bypass and from here you will see signs for the A9 all the way to Inverness   ..

Other Option:

From Edinburgh, head towards the M9 towards stirling. from here you will eventualy be directed onto the A9 to perth and again as before you will pikc upo signs for Invernesshe.

By Train

Trains for Inverness leave Glasgow Queen Street Station in Glasgow. Journey time from Glasgow is 4 hours. and From Waverly Train Station in Edinburgh. Journey time is under 4 hours 30 minutes.

 

By Bus or Coach

There are express coach links between Glasgow and Inverness and Edinburgh Airport and Inverness. Buses can be caught at Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow and the Waverly Bridge Station in Edinburgh. So please contact the local bus companies including Stagecoach for further information:
