Oban Transfer by Car

By car From North
If you are travelling south from the West side of Scotland by Car then you should head for signs towards Fort William, which would be the A82. From there travelling south you'll come across North Ballachullish Bridge which will connect onto the A828 which is an amazing but tough costal/Island view route. Your eventually come across the Connell bridge over Loch Etive, (Look below to the strong River Current), which will then take you into Oban.   From North central Scotland, Passing Aviemore you will see signs for the A86 at Kingussie which will direct you to Fort William, again use the details as above.     From the North east area or East area you could head to Perth and take the A85 road to Crainlarich. From Crainlarich on the A85 is a direct road into Oban. Or from Stirling take the A84 road which then connects onto the A85 at Lochearnhead where you will see signs for Crianlarich.  From Crainlarich on the A85 is a direct road into Oban.

 

By Car From the South
Travelling from the south, follow the A74 / M74 and take the M73 at junction 4 northwards.  Form there you will see the sign for Glasgow M8, Take the M8 West which will then lead you into Glasgow City.  Continue on the M8 on passing Glasgow City heading for Glasgow Airport, (signs posted M8 West, Erskine Bridge, Greenock.  On passing Glasgow Airport on the M8 approx 4 miles west you will take the Erskine Bridge and the A82 to Loch Lomond and carrying north alongside Loch Lomond you will enter Crianlarich. From Crainlarich on the A85 is a direct road into Oban, Approx 40 miles.
 

By Airport
Oban has its own Airport called, surprisingly, "Oban Airport".  This Airport is located on the north side of Connell Bridge and is used mainly for private Parties.   The main Airports would be either

Glasgow International Airport
Oban Town is 90 miles from Glasgow International Airport by car.
From Prestwick Airport both Buses and Train will transfer you direct into Glasgow City, Change at Glasgow City for Oban.
Buses will go direct to Buchannan Bus Station where you will change for direct transfer to Oban.  Train transfers to Oban will be from Queen Street station.

Prestwick Airport
122 miles  Buses and Train direct into Glasgow City, Change at Glasgow City for Oban.

138 miles  Buses & Taxis direct into Glasgow City, Change at Glasgow City for Oban.

By car From Glasgow Airport  ( 90 Miles from Glasgow International Airport )
From Glasgow Airport, just head for the Signs of M8 West, Erskine Bridge, Greenock.  Approx 4 miles west you will take the Erskine Bridge and the A82 to Loch Lomond and carrying north alongside Loch Lomond you will enter Crianlarich. From Crainlarich on the A85 is a direct road into Oban, Approx 40 miles.
Journey time is approx 2 hours 30 minutes
P.S.  For the Tourist driving themselves, we suggest you take the straight forward A82 but if you want something different try the information on  a private West Course tour taking in Oban. By car From Prestwick Airport  ( 122 Miles from Glasgow International Airport )
From Prestwick Airport take the A79 north which will connect you to the A78.  Take the A78 to the A77 North(3 munite drive) and from there take the A77 northward towards Glasgow. Travelling towards Glasgow Take the offramp at junction 1for the b768, Ibrox.  From here take the A761 which is the Paisley Road West where you will then come to the west onramp for Glasgow Airport which is approx 4 miles away.  From Glasgow Airport, just head for the Signs of M8 West, Erskine Bridge, Greenock.  Approx 4 miles west you will take the Erskine Bridge and the A82 to Loch Lomond and carrying north alongside Loch Lomond you will enter Crianlarich. From Crainlarich on the A85 is a direct road into Oban, Approx 40 miles.
Journey time is approx 2 hours 30 minutes

Approx 13 miles west from Glasgow City on the M8 you will take the Erskine Bridge and the A82 to Loch Lomond and carrying north alongside Loch Lomond you will enter Crianlarich. From Crainlarich on the A85 is a direct road into Oban, Approx 40 miles.
Journey time is approx 3 hour 45 minutes

By Train
Trains for Oban leave Glasgow Queen Street Station in Glasgow. Journey time from Glasgow is under 3 hours. and From Waverly Train Station in Edinburgh. Journey time is under 3 hours 30 minutes.

 

By Bus or Coach
There are express coach links between Glasgow and Oban & Edinburgh Airport and Oban. Buses can be caught at Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow and the Waverly Bridge Station in Edinburgh. So please contact the local bus companies including Stagecoach for further information:
