George and Abbotsford Hotel is located on the high street situated in the heart of Melrose’s just off the picturesque market square. Melrose is one of the Borders beautiful and quaint towns with a busy busteling Market square to the temptuios ruins of Melrose Abbey just only a five minute walk.
Accommodation at The George & Abbotsford Hotel comprises a total of 30 bedrooms including standard single, twin and double rooms, larger triple and family rooms, and for a touch of luxury - our four poster room. With each of our rooms offer

The Suites
The Scott Room can hold up to 40 guests for a sit down meal and 40 - 50 guests for a reception. Its oak beamed ceiling and panel walls make this a particularly popular cosy venue for small winter receptions. The Waverley Room can hold up to 100 guests for a formal meal and 120 for a reception. It's high ceiling makes it a light and airy room that can be sub-divided by means of curtains to provide a pleasant venue for receptions of smaller numbers. Many guests have remarked on its versatility. With a large permanent dance floor as well as direct access to the rose garden the Waverley is a popular venue for wedding receptions.
Business Facilities
Along with other hotels in Melrose and the facilities of the Wynd Theatre providing an auditorium with back projection facilities, we can co-ordinate larger corporate events and spouse activities. Only one hours travel from Edinburgh and one and a half from Glasgow and Newcastle, the G & A makes for the perfect venue at which to hold your next conference or training seminar.
Meeting Rooms There are 3 meeting rooms available at the G & A. All rooms have natural daylight, blackout facilities and the availability of presentation equipment such as TV & VCR, OHP and screen, and flip charts. The Burns Room located on the first floor is a dedicated training room with much of this equipment permanently fitted and ready for immediate use.
