ISLE OF JURA WHISKY
Isle of Jura Distillery, Craighouse,
Isle of Jura, Argyll PA60 7XT
Tel: 01496-820240
Lying just to the East of Islay, off Scotland's west coast, Jura is one of
Scotland's most spectacular
but least known islands. The Isle of Jura is 24 miles long by 8 miles wide, 90,666 acres with a
population about 180 people and 5000 red deer. The first official
Scottish distillery on Jura was built in
1810 but there is evidence that illicit distilling took place as far back as 1502.

Bladnoch Distillery is the most southern
Distillery in Scotland. It
is situated on
the banks the Bladnoch River and the Distillery
and Visitors Centre has one of the best Gift Shops in the area with examples of
local crafts, good quality Scottish woollen goods. This
Scottish Distillery, at the time owned by Diageo, was last in production in June
1993. Lying empty and in decline it was then taken over by
Raymond Armstrong in November 1994 but after negotiation with Diageo and with
great enthusiasm and care from Raymond, Bladnoch has been made into a fantastic
working Scottish
Distillery, (January 2000), with tourism up most in his thoughts.
Recently it was my pleasure to be given a tour by Mr Armstrong around Bladnoch Distillery
- Thank you.

Edradour Distillery
Edradour, Perth & Kinross, nr Pitlochry
Established in 1825 the Edradour is the smallest distillery in Scotland.
It is the last original 'farm' distillery in Perthshire. You will find
Edradour nestling in a pocket glen in the hills above Pitlochry.
It is hand made today as it was over 150 years ago by just three men
who are devoted to the time honoured methods of whisky making.
Equipment used at the distillery has remained unchanged since the
day the distillery opened and is only just capable of producing
commercial quantities. Only 12 casks of whisky are produced a week,
making Edradour single malt a rare pleasure for a fortunate few.
