Ayr
Tourist Information has such a wide variety of things to do that I
just don't
know where to start, Well here goes...
Ayr Town is located on the
central West Coast of Scotland at the Firth of Clyde. The ferry from Troon
will take you over to Isle of
Arran and by car Ayr Town is 37 miles south of Glasgow City. The
population of Ayr at the last census is 46,431. Famous
for Alloway of Ayr is Rabbie Burns the nations Scottish poet.
Sports wise we have the Ayr Racecourse and there is the Ayr Football Team and next
door we have the Kilmarnock Football team. North
of Ayr we have Prestwick Airport which is famous for Freight Transport and it is
the ONLY place in Britain where Elvis Presley has visited. We also have Troon where
the British Open Golf Championship is played. South of Ayr we have Culzean Castle &
Country Park, Turnberry Castle, Crossraguel Abbey & Johnnie Souter's Cottage. Ayr
Tourist Information & things to do include walking in the town centre.
Personally I'm extremely happy that the main motorway
in Ayrshire is the A77, this motorway has been drastically improved with a
new safer section from the Means (M77) to Kilmarnock and a much improved
and wider section just before Turnberry from the Kirksowald section. Both
these new and improved sections have made the A77 a safer place to travel.
